The Guard Alliance recognizes that it’s our responsibility to provide adequate control of health and safety risks arising from our work activities. We will ensure the health, safety and welfare of all our employees and maintain healthy working conditions that eliminate and minimize risks. We observe strict guidelines that ensure we uphold this policy, as shown below.
Health and safety maintenance at work
To create and maintain a healthy and safe working environment for our employees, we will do the following:
- Carry out risk assessments for all business operations
- Provide necessary training, information, supervision and instruction to ensure employees carry out their duties safely
- Implement safe systems and controls as appropriate
- Ensure safe handling and use of substances and articles
- Provide employees with personal protective equipment, whereby failure to use may result in disciplinary action
- Ensure all employees are aware of health and safety arrangements and legislations that affect them
- Report, record and investigate all accidents to meet legal requirements
- Ensure that all work equipment, purchased or hired, is suitable and appropriate for the intended purpose
- Liaise closely with customers and employees to identify risks on site
- Keep health and safety information up-to-date
- Review, revise and monitor our health and safety policy and make changes where necessary
Health and safety of our security guards at work
We will create a safe and comfortable workplace where our employees can thrive by providing a wide range of amenities and welfare facilities. These include:
- Drinking water, washing facilities and accessible washrooms
- A comfortable restroom
- Appropriate seating arrangements to prevent prolonged standing hours that can cause health hazards
- Report any incident/accident on-site to the appropriate authorities
- Provide standby facilities in the event of failed water supply, gas supply or electricity supply
Health and safety training
The Guard Alliance, will provide extensive health and safety training for all levels of management and employees. Training will be part of the induction process for the company and also for addressing new or increased risks in the workplace. Health and safety training will cover several topics, including:
- Dealing appropriately with incidents of violence and aggression
- Correct procedures for reporting incidents in the workplace
- Emergency and fire procedures, which include what to do in the event of a fire and the location of hoses, fire extinguishers, drain covers and sandbags
- First aid training, which includes replenishing first aid kits and awareness of the location of first aid kits on site
